We’re extremely happy and surprised to find out how she had reacted to the recent earthquake and tsunami situation. Her residence and place of work are not very far from the place of maximum impact in Japan — Sendai. Not only she was surviving but she was helping a bunch of her family members who were effected in a larger way. She had them taken to the hospital to be checked out for any medical issues. She opened her home to them – An amazing act of kindness which does not comes naturally to all humans.

Hearing this news about the human spirit and the way it matures the human soul to being truly empowered was inspiring. When great calamities strike the focus moves from technology to the human spirit. People innovate, become supportive, and become compassionate in ways that they themselves were never imagined. Let us keep all the Japanese in our meditative attention and in our prayers.

A soul / jazz + meditation concert at Crazy Wisdom bookstore on Nov 28th (Sunday after Thanksgiving) was a great success, filling up all the seats in the house and enchanting almost everyone present there. The performer was a young french artist Yoann Freget who is touring Canada and US, who was given a great introduction by our visiting volunteer Zhenya (2 min):

Yoann performed a fantastic set, interspersed with meditative breaks where the audience were able to meditate and focus on their inner divine energy. At other times they simply joined in in call and response style that Yoann’s 35+ concerts so far this year are known for. Here is a beautiful song based in Native American style:

French soul & jazz singer and meditation instructor Yoann Freget will be conducting an amazing musical meditation journey at Crazy Wisdom bookstore on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Seats are limited so RSVP today!

November 28 at 4 pm- French Singer Yoann Freget will perform a medley of soothing of Jazz, Soul and Blues for the Spirit with small meditation breaks to experience the joy beyond the sounds. Yoann folds in a call-and-respond style element to his session, which is an interactive delight for the audiences. Join us for a lovely afternoon of enlightened music and inner awakening.

What pushed Yoann Freget into gospel singing since the tender age of 3 was nothing short of miraculous. Suffering from acute stammering since he started to speak, it soon became apparent that none of therapeutic methods attempted worked on him – until he started to sing gospel music and his parents noticed a visible improvement. The improvement continued and became even more noticeable when he discovered and started to practice meditation.

At the age of fifteen he attended for the first time a concert of Gospel music with the famous singer, musician and composer Emmanuel Djob (“Black an’ White Gospel singers”, “By the Gospel River”), directing the “Gospelize it! Mass Choir”. This was a deep spiritual and musical revelation for Yoann. A few months later he joined Djob’s Gospel Choir, one of the most famous gospel choirs in Europe. Yoann performed in this group for three years, quickly became a soloist, and started to gain a deep

understanding of the essence of African-American music, which can according to him drop, through the Power of Love, all the artificial barriers between human beings such as race, religion, or nationality.
Subsequently, Yoann sang in several music bands including: “BRBB”, a Tribute to Otis Redding, with an orchestra of 6 musicians; the famed “Soul Travellers” band; the male Gospel quintet “Gospel Shakers”; in “Gospel Jam” he performed duets with the well-known Gospel singer Sabine Kouli (“Maezah” and “Soul Spirit”); and as a choir singer on the Marianne Aya Omac’s latest album (“Ginkobiloba”), “Be my witness”. During his musical journey he received great support and encouragement from renowned artists such as Stevie Wonder, Liz Mc Comb, Dove Attia (Jury of “La Nouvelle Star”- the french “New Idol”), and Ahmed Mouici (“Pow Wow”, “Les Dix Commandements”).

Yoann also sang as a chorist for Stevie Wonder, Liz McComb, and Helene Carter.

Since 2006 he has led his own Gospel choir “Le Choeur Enchante” and has been giving singing lessons. He has also been invited to give Gospel workshops in England, Italy, Germany and other countries, to share his vision and experience of Gospel music.

Yoann graduated in 2008 from the University of Montpellier in the field of Music Therapy. He worked intensively with teenagers suffering from stammering, bringing to them the joy of music and helping them overcome their condition, showing them a way to achieve self-confidence from within.

In May 2010, Yoann returned from a five-month journey throughout India where he learned Indian music and its deep spiritual roots, which elevated his art to new heights.

At the age of 23, Yoann is currently touring Canada and the United States over the course of a three-month tour, and his first album, Songs For Mother Earth, has recently been released.

The only goal of his concerts is to share the Peace and Joy that he feels inside though music and meditation, revealing a treasure that we all have inside, which just needs to be awakened. Beyond any concepts this experience can be resume in one single sentence, from one of his main sources of inspiration: “Love is the key that unlocks the door that leads to ultimate Reality” – Martin Luther King.
